The American Bobtail is a medium to large cat occuring naturally. It should be well fleshed and muscular. The tail is short reaching half way to the hock and should be visible above the back when the cat is alert. The American Bobtail has a modified wedge shaped head with almond shaped eyes. Bobtails come in both Shorthaired and Longhair varieties. The coat is best described as Shaggy with a dense undercoat.

The American Bobtails have a unique personality! They learn very quickly. Many will play fetch, can be trained to walk on leashes and often have been described as having a "Doglike Personality" They will wag their tails and talk to you with with little meows and chirps.
